The Russian republic of Tatarstan played host to the worlds biggest Quran when it was unveiled in Kazan. The Quran weighs a stunning 800 kilos of which 120 kilos are of the frame cover alone. The Quran is 1.5 m by 2 m, and 3 m by 2 m if unfolded. The cover is tinseled with gold and silver and embellished with malachite, jasper and phianites. Its notable to mention the Worlds Smallest Quran in the same breath since that one too was encrusted with diamonds and rubies as well as gold. The worlds largest Quran will be placed in the hall of Qolsharif Mosque. In June 2012, it will be transferred to Bolgary in today’s Tatarstan and will be placed on the commemorative stone that was established in honor of accepting Islam as the state religion of Volga Bulgaria in 922.
I really would like to see the largest Koran. How wonderful it looks. It took much more time to prepare it. The result is delighhtful.
I also want to add something. May be they have spent much money. However, I think this act shows our respect for Koran. Let's think a little. Someone created the biggest globus, other person created the biggest atlas and so on. Why should not we create the biggest Koran that is our holy book?!
I agree with Sakina but at the same time I think it is good to have the biggest Koran ,it is the most valueble book for us)))) I also would like to have this book in our country))
interesting, but i want to mention that Koran is a book of Islam religion, which is for reading, not for beauty or fun. Why they need to create the biggest koran? to show everybody that they are really Islam country or just to announce the world about their achievement)
I am agree with others. It is a great job. However, Christians can also create the largest Bible in the world. It would be better if they are busy with much more important things.
I share the same point with Sakina... Yes, i think they would better spend the money to the orphans...There is no need to show off like this. Koran is not valuable because of its ornaments or sizes....It is valuable because of the things that have been written there
