Recently, I
have read an article about 10 most popular Halloween events in USA. According
to this article, Pumpkin Festival, taken place annually in Keene, was
considered as the most spectacular and amazing Halloween event. The Keene
Pumpkin Festival is the kind of event you have to see to believe. It has become one of the region’s
most popular community events because it hold the world record for lit
jack-o-lanterns (carved pumpkins). Last year the total pumpkin count was 25,644.This year even more are expected
on October 16th when folks from all around bring their customized pumpkins to
Keene for the 16th annual pumpkin festival. The jack-o-lanterns
line the streets of downtown Keene, set up on huge scaffolds. At night
they are even illuminated, creating a spectacular glow of pumpkin colored light
into the night. This event, like any good fall festival, is complete with
art vendors, live music and entertainment, fireworks and of course, lots ofgreat food. However,
the Keene Pumpkin Festival isn’t just about setting records…it is about
bringing people together in a spirit of community and participation. Each
autumn, The Keene Pumpkin Festival brings together thousands of people and
families from near and far to share an unforgettable celebration of community.
I found this article very curious because I fond of
Halloween. This feast doesn’t resemble any other holidays and includes unique
activities, such as attending costume parties,
carvingpumpkins, telling scary stories and etc. Unfotunately,
In Azerbaijan people don’t celebrate it widely. That’s why, on the 31 of October,
the only thing I have to do is to sit at home and watch horror film.
From the first sight, this holiday may seem to some people very strange and stupid , But ,in fact. It's completely different..it is about bringing people together in a spirit of community-This is the main objective of that enjoyable holiday...It doesn't matter we celebrate it or not but the holiday is itself very interesting and pleasurable.. thanks for sharing
Would like to be there with great pleasure. In ,Azerbaijan it is not widely celebrated , u are right. However ,Shalala is also right ,it is their tradition and custom ,it is their celebration .But it is celebrated in Baku though not widely ,only in the city center.
I'm ashamed that I can't prepare and do my best in our holy holidays. I can do everything in order to help the poor. In that situation how can I think about Halloween? I think, it's just...
Ok, I respect your desire to help poor people. I think, it is very noble. However, I didn't understand one thing. How can Halloween disturb you to help people? You can help other people and celebrate Halloween once a year)
Of course, Halloween isn't celebrated in Azerbaijan. Even if there are parties dedicated to it, this is just for the sake of party, not the Halloween itself. In the USA, Halloween is a part of tradition. It's great that the Americans could save it through years.
