One schoolgirl was unhappy. Her father noticed this and
asked what the problem was. "Classes” was the answer. This situation occurred
many times, and the father wanted to give a good lesson to her daughter. His
remedy was a kind of "experiment.” One day, when the girl came home after
classes, again unhappy, the father led her to the kitchen. He took an egg, a
potato, and some coffee beans and wanted his daughter to explain them. As the
girl said, the egg was wishy-washy, the potato was stiff, and the coffee beans
were some little, bitter seeds. Then, they boiled them in separate bowls. After
ten minutes, the father wanted the girl to feel the result. The girl noticed
that the egg was solid, the potato was soft now. Then she drank a cup of
coffee, and a spontaneous smile appeared on her face. The father asked, "What
about you?” The girl did not understand. This time, he said, "What about you, dear?
Which one do you choose?” No answer. "Will any difficulty indurate you as an
egg, weaken you as a potato, or add another taste to your life?” The answer was
"I do not know.”
I have
chosen to be "coffee”, so every difficulty makes my life more interesting
and enjoyable. I love my difficulties. I am happy with them. How about you?
Which one was your choice? Maybe, your choice will change after this "experiment?”
