The history of chess

From history of the CHESS

The history of the chess comes from ancient times.  There are some tales about its history.  All are related with chess table and rice.

It happened long time ago. Indian king Sheram was tyrant. His nation lived poorly. A brave man wanted to explain king’s false and make him think about his nation’s situation.  That man created a game in which the most important figure-the king can’t do anything without other figures, other people. In different places the name of that game was called "king”, "shac”. "korol” and etc. The famous name of "Shacmat” comes from Persian king "Chac Mat”.

Man presented his game to king, and king liked that game very much. He said that whatever that man wanted he would give him. Man wanted king to give him grain of rice: for first square 1+for second 2+for third 2x2+for fourth 4x2 and goes on… King was very happy because he taught that the present was easy to give. Actually, the real amount was very, very huge: it’s impossible to pay this because to get that amount of grain we need to pick harvest 8 times if whole world is planted, and the length of storehouse must be 2 times longer than the distance between the Earth and the sun.

There are a lot of version of chess history. However, I like this version most of all,as it has deep meaning: king is nothing without its folk.
P.S. Why is the queen is the most powerful figure? biggrin

I liked the conception of the game. Chess is like a symbol of an idea that the King can do nothing without others:)

I liked the second part.It is very good example for modern "kings",they should not forget that they are not the most important figures in the "game" ;-)
