From my
perspective, the answer to this question, frankly speaking, is NO! Not a single
woman wants to abort a child, because unconsciously she wishes to be an
affectionate mother. But considering awkward conditions in the woman's life,
which may lead her to go for such an option, we must rethink the abortion
procedure.
The cases which can lead a woman to such
a step are really worthy thinking of:
1) What if in the course of the periodical
checkups, in the early stages of pregnancy, the doctor informs woman that the
baby has certain deformities? Both physical and mental deformities are
objectionable. Would a woman want to bring up a child knowing beforehand that
he or she will have certain disabilities for the whole life? It’s very
expensive to bring up a normal child, but a child with serious deformities
would probably cause additional financial burden. If a normal middle class
family in majority of cases cannot afford it, a poor family will shudder at the
possibility of owning such a child. One more issue, that has to be taken into
account, is that observing the growth of a child, having any kind of
disabilities is a daily torture for the parents. There are numerous types of
serious deformities, for which even the modern medical system has no cure and answers,
so, owning such a child is suffering and more suffering for all concerned. In
this case the fear leads the mother to select the option of abortion.
2) The second and not less important issue
is the economic side of bringing up the child. Bringing up and providing proper
education and living to the child demands strong financial background. So,
family budget must be enough solid. But pro-life activists are arguing and have
a valid argument. They allege that if the parents are unable to provide a child
with all important needs and safety, they can hand it over to some family that
is willing to adopt it. This can be easily accomplished after proper legal
procedures. With this meaningful approach the baby gets a chance to live. Who
really knows what is in store for it in its future life, it may prove to be
talented and brilliant amongst other children, and this could be the brighter
side of the picture. Analyzing this idea, I made certain research, which helped
me to find out the disadvantages of this procedure of adopting. Carrying a baby
for nine month leads to maximization of mothering instincts. So, when it is
time to separate the mother and the baby, most of the women go the limit to
save the baby, leaving behind all the reasons for letting the adoption to
occur. And finally when the separation is done, woman is left mentally
depressed for the rest of her life.
3) What if woman is raped? We often hear
about unfortunate incidents of gang rapes, father raping one's own daughter, neighbors
raping the minor girls. All these are unwanted pregnancies, and in no
circumstances a women would like to mother such a child. The child will
represent a reminding of this outrageous act to the mother for the whole life.
So, after such a heinous act of raping, the woman must have the legal right to
abort such a fetus. Rape leads to great emotional stress. Constantly watching a
child grow out of the bitter rape experience is the double tragedy. I suppose,
in rape cases, the woman must get the abortion done, whether it's legal or not.
It’s better if legal facilities are provided for woman, in case not to get
involved into the clandestine operation with the assistance of inexperienced
hands. It's dangerous for the life of a woman. We all have seen in films, read
in newspapers about the death of women who went through unprofessional
abortions, because of the prohibition of abortion in their countries.
I think that abortion of unwanted child is
a conventional option in today's society. Many organizations strongly advocate
that abortion should be legalized worldwide and that it should be left to women
whether she should have a child or not depending upon her personal
circumstances. I propose to legalize the abortion with two slight options.
First of all is the right to have an abortion, finding out about hard
deformities in child's organism. Second is legalizing abortion in
"rape" cases. Talking about financial obstacles, I suppose, the
countries, which ban the abortion should give the financial insurance to
families, or if the government doesn't have such kind of facilities, it must
give the opportunity to have an abortion.
The prohibition
of abortions leads to creating illegal organizations for abortions in which
unprofessional assistance causes death and infertility. The abortion must be immediately
rethought in numerous countries, and religious views mustn't be involved in
such a tough issue. The government should legalize the abortion and take it
under control. Take under control outrageous organizations of illegal abortions
and give a woman the right to choose, comprehending the circumstances which led
to such a choice.
